Serving the arts community of Antigonish and the Northern Shore region of Nova Scotia since 1975, Lyghtesome Gallery has been a forerunner in promoting well-known Antigonish artists and other leading artists from across the Maritimes through its monthly exhibit schedule.
The gallery features an outstanding collection of works by Nova Scotian printmakers and watercolourists, as well as award- winning pottery, wood, clay and metal sculpture, art-related books and cards, historic engravings of Scottish culture and the Atlantic region, and celtic artwork. Lyghtesome's custom framing services represent the highest in quality craftsmanship and artistic integrity.
Antigonish, home of St. Francis Xavier University, is a cultural center for the Northern Shore of Nova Scotia along St. Georges Bay and the Northumberland Strait, well known for its Scottish heritage, music, theatre, crafts and visual arts. Situated midway between Sydney and Halifax, with four exits on Highway 104, TransCanada, Antigonish is an easy and pleasurable stopover for anyone travelling to and from Cape Breton Island and the Nova Scotia Mainland.
