Naomi Society is here to provide support for individuals who experience family and intimate partner violence.Naomi Society offers a warm and friendly approach where services are free and confidential. Naomi Society offers direct services to both women and children and will provide referral services for men. We provide confidential support, detailed safety planning, crisis intervention and ongoing support and advocacy and counselling for women, children, and adolescents as well as long term planning.
We have skilled and supportive counsellors to inform you about available options and services: counselling, medical, shelter, legal, financial.
One of our workers can provide accompaniment to appointments and / or court.
We offer access to emergency overnight shelter, support for mothers who have children dealing with effects of family violence and Second Stage Housing for women and their children who have left an abusive relationship.
We have outreach offices in Sherbrooke, Canso, and Guysborough and offer referral services to men.
Second Stage Housing was established in November 1994 and consists of 2 separate units with 3 bedrooms in each unit. Second Stage Housing is available for women and children leaving an abusive relationship where they can live for up to one year. This experience gives the families an opportunity for independent living with supportive services available. In the last 17 years, Second Stage Housing has provided shelter for over 50 families.
